Go Guilt Free After the Holidays

It’s the end of January. If you haven’t stopped already, now is the time to quit beating yourself up over all the delicious indulgences consumed throughout the holiday season.

We only get a short run on this planet. While that doesn’t mean we should just crash through life like a bull in the proverbial china shop, it does mean that showing too much restraint is simply an opposite and equally undesirable extreme.

So, you’ve given up sweets, for example. Now your Sweet Tooth is screaming at your daily, and life is torturous as you watch others continue to pop goodies into their mouths. Why not give yourself a break and start figuring out great and super simple ways to satisfy the sweet craving without allowing even a single grain of processed sugar into your body?

Try this truly easy baked apple. It’s both sweet and luscious, plus it beats the urge for super satisfying comfort food!

Super Simple Guilt-Free Baked Apple

For each apple:
1 large apple (Cortland, McIntosh, etc), cored, but not peeled
1 T raisins
1 T coarsely chopped walnuts
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg or allspice
1 c sugar-free soft drink

Place apple (or apples, touching one another) in baking pan.
Stuff with raisins & walnuts; sprinkle with spices to suit your taste.
Pour beverage around the apple. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 min just till tender. (You could also microwave it on high for 4-5 minutes, if you are in a terrific hurry!)
